Relations between emission parameters of barium contained impregnated cathodes and skeleton properties (rhenium content, phase composition and pore structure) are investigated. The W-Re power blends and W-Re alloyed powers are used for thepreparation of cathode skeletons. It is determined that the cathodes with 50-80 % Re have smaller work function [φ(1300 K)=1.97-1.99 eV]. The impregnated cathode long-life increases no less than by a factor of 2-2.5 due to using W-Re alloyed powers withfine aluminum oxide particles for the skeleton preparation. These skeletons have stable structure without recristalization and grain growth.
