International standards on lightning protection for structures

摘要

An increase of high-rise buildings and the realization of the information oriented society need a sophisticated lightning protection measures. This paper shows the standards which were established at the IEC TC81 as well as the Japanese industrial standards related to it. The IEC standards introduced a rolling sphere method for evaluation of lightning protective installations. Internal lightning protection becomes important for protecting computers and electronic devices.
