摘要

In future all-optical photonic network with a bit rate exceeding 40 Gbit/s, optical demultiplexing devices operating with high speed as well as low power will be essential. We have demonstrated a simultaneous demultiplexing from 40 Gbit/s data signal into two channels of 20 Gbit/s using an SOA based all-optical polarization switch in conjunction with a polarization beam splitter. Error free operation was confirmed with no power penalty against a conventional electroabsorption modulator demultiplexing scheme. This is the first experimental demonstration that proved the full-switching capability of the SOA-MZI all-optical switch.
