A new bridge-type transformer using a three-Leg core and its application to a removable 5th-harmonic voltage transformer

In a previous paper, we proposed a reactor circuitcomprising a combination of reactors, single-phase transformers,and resistances. The reactor circuit can remove the 5th-harmonicvoltage from is three-phase output voltage. In this paper, wepresent a new bridge-type three-phase transformer using a three-legcore and a E-fore core. Both the line and phase voltages of thethree-phase voltage source are applied to the transformer windings.The 5th-harmonic component of the output voltage decreases,because the 5th-harmonic component due to the line voltage andthat due to the phase voltage cancel each other out. We describethe operating principle of the bridge-type transformer and itsapplication to a removable 5th-harmonic voltage transformer.
