Promising high-chromium steels for application in fuel element claddings of fast neutron reactor

摘要

A current state of the problem of radiation durability of structural materials for fast neutron nuclear reactor core has been presented. A good dimensional stability of EP450 chromium steel under neutron irradiation was pointed ort. The supposition was made about possibility of attainment of super-high level of nuclear fuel burn-up (up to 12-15 percent) in the case of EP450 steel using in fuel elements claddings. The drawbacks of EP450 steel as fuel elements cladding material in comparision with austenite steels are reduced high-temperature strength above 650 deg C and the worse corrosion resistance in water during fuel rods storing in decay tank. The main ways of improving the 12 percent Cr steels heat- and corrosion resistance have been described.
