摘要

The objective of this research is to focus on the manufacturing of furan resin mold ductile cast iron by using the In-mold Process. The effects of filter apertures and inoculation treatment on the mechanical properties (tensile strength, ductility, etc.,) and metallographic microstructures (nodularity, nodule count, matrix etc.,) of the ductile cast iron were investigated in this research. The results of this study indicate: (1) The use of finer filter (Φ1.5mm) has reduced the inclusion content, and the metallographic microstructures and mechanical properties have an improvement to some extent. So it is suggested to use the finer filter (Φ1.5mm). SEM-EDS analyses show that oxide and carbide are major compositions of the inclusion in ductile iron.(2) The nodularity, nodule count, diameter of graphite, and ferrite content of the ductile cast iron are obviously improved after inoculation treatment, also it has an increase in the ductility, and toughness while it has the decrease in hardness. SEM analyses show that inoculation treatment can thin pearlite structures and increase ferrite grain size number. All these can be proved from the improvement of mechanical properties.
