Seasonal rhythm of growth and fruit yield of Sorbus aucuparia L. in Bashkortostan

S. aucuparia is widespread in Bashkortostan, where it annually yields up to 15.1 tonnes of dry berries for medicinal purposes. There are no differences in seasonal growth rhythm amongst provenances from all over the Republic; leaves begin appearingbetween 3 and 9 May, flowering begins from 22 to 25 May, while fruit maturation begins 12-16 July. Phenological observations over the past 27 years showed that in Ufa the corresponding average dates are 3 May, 20 May and 29 July. Fruiting is generally regular, but is most stable in the steppe zone. Berry yield per tree varies from year to year, but on average an inflorescence produces 60 berries weighing over 26 g.
