Materials on variability and taxonomic status of Chthamalus malayensis Pilsbry 1916 and Chthamalus moro Pilsbry 1916 (Crustacea, Cirripedia, Chthamalidae) inhabiting littoral of southern Vietnam [Russian]

摘要

The studies of barnacle collections from the littoral of southern Vietnam analysis of the literature data allowed one to revise the taxonomic status of the species described as Chthamalus moro Pilsbry. Contrary to the opinion that it is a synonym of Chthamalus malayensis Pilsbry, the author regards this species as independent. The morphological differences between Ch. malayensis and Ch. moro are in the shape of spines and the availability or lack of short stout peg-like spines on cirri I-II. Based on these characters, these species belong to different groups of the subgenus level. A set of descriptions did not contain the characters mentioned above, that is why they need correction. The other characters proposed by a number of authors cannot be a reliable basis for identifying Ch. malayensis and Ch. moro.
