Environment-adaptive personal communication (EAPEC) architecture for ubiquitous computing networks

This paper proposes a new type of communication, called EAPEC (Environment-Adaptive Personal Communication) for ubiquitous computing networks. EAPEC accepts a communication message from a sender, automatically selects the most appropriate communication device and media type for a receiver, converts the sender's message into the one acceptable to the receiver, and forwards the converted message to the receiver. The EAPEC network architecture can be implemented based on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and a 3GPP network architecture by simply adding functional modules including universal communication navigators and media processing servers.
