摘要

High-scalability, high-throughput and high-reliability, backbone router technologies are reviewed to meet Internet traffic increasing. Important functions of the backbone network and node are traffic engineering and IP oriented network management today. In addition, VLSI and optical technology are breakthrough for the next generation backbone node.
