摘要

In this paper, a hybrid method of wavelet zerotree image coding and forward error correction (FEC) by using product code is proposed for packet transmission. A modified packetization scheme for wavelet zerotree image coding is proposed to localize the impact of packet loss and bit errors. FEC coding by using Reed-Solomon product code is applied to protect image data from packet loss and bit errors. Computer simulation based on ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) network is performed. Results shows that the proposed method effectively works to protect compressed image data from packet loss and channel bit errors.
