The characteristics and operating results of Shinko Kobe thermal power station unit No.1

The Shinko Kobe thermal power station unit No.1 in the city of Kobe city, Hyogo prefecture, is a 700MW coal-fired unit which started commercial operation in April, 2002. As for this power plant, construction has been advanced with the theme "City type power plant". Actions to make the power station reliable for citizen has been carried out shouldering various expectations for city type power station: establishment of life-lines (electric power which is necessary to maintain life at the disaster etc.), energy-supply to neighboring district and other contributions to neighboring area. This paper presents the characteristics and trial operating results of this unit.
