Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. has used carbon fiber manufactured from pitches for a variety of subsidiary business operations.Because of its high electroconductivity, a nonporous carbon fiber is used for semiconductor trays and electromagnetic shield materials. On the other hand, porous, activated carbon fiber, is characterized by high adsorption performance and is thereforeapplied to water purifiers directly coupled with faucets. This time, we have discovered a gold/iron oxide/lanthanum oxide catalyst capable of decomposing dioxin, and we have succeeded in carrying it on an active carbon fiber.To stop the release of dioxin into the atmosphere, we implement two comprehensive measures the above mentioned active carbon fiber with a cracking catalyst, and complete combustion of dioxin within an incinerator using a high-temperature burner. We arealso ready to take action to prevent ash from flying and scattering.This paper focuses on this cracking catalyst and on a dioxin collector filter that made the most of the high adsorption activity of active carbon fiber and helped reduce the dioxin analysis costs by half.
