Seed cleaning to produce uniform seeds is seen as a means of improving the precision of the sowing process. Seed treatment apparatuses, such as the models UOS-1 and Ush-10A described here, can remove fibres and roughness from the seed surface to improve seed size uniformity, sort out different seed weight fractions, and prepare seeds for germination through pre-sowing treatments (soaking in microelement solution, drying and then washing in oxygenated water). UOS-1 and Ush-10A were tested on the "Il'ichevskii" farm in Karachai-Cherkessiya using seeds of tomato, sweet pepper and sugarbeet. Treatment increased the flowability and alignment of seeds through the seed drill, and improved germinability.
