摘要

The authors have applied a hybrid mass damper with convertible active and passive modes using hydraulic actuators to a slender tall building in November, 1997. The building has a 154m height, an aspect ratio of eight and a 6,877t total weight. The hybrid mass damper can function as active one to control relatively small vibrations caused by winds or weak earthquakes effectively and can also function as passive one against strong winds or earthquakes. The mass damper has a 27t weight of moving mass supported by an XY-motion mechanism vertically while coil springs and oil dampers horizontally. The hydraulic actuator is mounted in each direction. Control systems for the 1st lateral vibration mode in two directions are designed by LQR control strategy. An active-passive mode switching rule is determined by the system pressure and the mass displacement Characteristic tests for the mass damper have carried out on the ground. Analytical models of the mass damper and validity of the control system were confirmed before its installation.
