The revamped No. 2 continuous slab reheating furnace at Japan's NKK Fukuyama Works' north hot strip mill employs high-performance regenerative burners. The regenerative burners were installed as part of the fiscal 2000 field test for introducing high-performance industrial furnaces jointly launched by NKK and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Revamp work on the reheating furnace was completed in early January, followed by stable trial operations, which confirmed satisfactory effects of the new burner system.In revamping the reheating furnace. NKK fully adopted the successful results obtained in NEDO's earlier research project for developing high-performance industrial furnaces."
