摘要

We present and analyze the results of service and tall-scale tests of disk automobile wheels. We determined the main cause of their failure is initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks in the disk from fastening and ventilation holes, as well as fretting process in the hub-disk contacting pair. We studied the cyclic plasticity, stress concentration and fretting zones in low-carbon and low-alloyed steels used in automobile industry under cyclic loading conditions. It is shown that the a special parameter should be found and used as a criterion for the assessment of serviceability of steels under fretting-fatigue conditions.
