Database-centered e-learning system construction method

摘要

The number of universities that offer a variety of interactive multimedia teaching materials by e-Learning systems has been increasing. The author has been developing a personalized multimedia assisted education system for business mathematics named e-Math since January 2002. Through the system development, the author has thought that e-Learning systems have to be designed and constructed around the databases. In the paper, requirements for general e-Learning systems are explained, and then, the importance of database-centered e-Learning system construction is described. In addition, the paper shows the following two personalized assisted education features that e-Math offers as examples; (1) dynamic selection and display of teaching materials, and (2) dynamic generation of drill book HTML files.
