A study of congestion control method for TCP with explicit wireless link loss notification

For TCP communication via wireless links, the current congestion control cannot distinguish wireless link loss from congestion loss. Therefore, it decreases congestion window size for the communication even if the former loss occurs, and then the transmission rate is quite reduced. To solve this problem, ELN (Explicit Loss Notification) method is proposed to explicitly inform wireless link loss to the sender. Unfortunately, it also incompletely recognizes the above two kinds of losses. This paper proposes improved ELN method, which can also control for retransmission segments. Finally, we evaluate our proposal by computer simulations experiments.
