摘要

Lossless and lossy coding system using reversible transform is useful for various applications and widely have been proposed. However, especially for lossy image coding at low bit rates, the conventional transforms result in blocking and ringing artifacts. In this paper, a reversible lapped biorthogonal transform (RLBT) using lifting steps is presented. The RLBT is based on the reversible DCT (RDCT) and is constructed by adding a series of the lifting to the RDCT. Computer simulations show that lossless and lossy image compression efficiencies of the RLBT are comparable to those obtained with popular wavelet transform.
