Vibration characteristics of 40 kHz, 60 kHz, 100 kHz and 180 kHz ultrasonic complex vibration systems using a longitudinal-complex transverse vibration rod with a large area welding tip are studied. Using the complex vibration ultrasonic welding system, various specimens can be welded with larger and more uniform welded area independent of specimen direction than those welded using a conventional system using linear vibration. The complex vibration welding systems consist of a complex transverse vibration rod with a welding tip of 11 mm to 21 mm square that is driven using two longitudinal vibration transducers crossed at a right angle, a supporting system and a welding frame. Two longitudinal transducers are driven using two power amplifiers with phase difference of 90° and circular vibration locus is obtained at the end of transverse vibration rod.
