摘要

Phenol resin binder is applied for carbon containing refractories because of favorable characteristics for kneading and pressing. However the carbon formed from the phenol resin in carbonization has an amorphous (glassy) structure, this is one reason for lower spalling resistance of resin bonded MgO-C bricks.We studied the development of lower carbon containing MgO-C bricks without phenol resin binder in order to improve spalling resistance. These lower carbon containing MgO-C bricks have good spalling and erosion resistance.
