Lining Design Improved by Structure Analysis Technology

摘要

The problem of service life decline by caused brick failure at the trunnion sides of the BOF (Basic Oxygen Furnace) barrel was solved by structure analysis technology using non-linear FEM (Finite Element Method). Thermal shock caused by intermittent operation, pushing up caused by expansion of the lower lining bricks and circumference direction constraint at the trunnion side mainly caused brick failure. About fifty expansion set methods, patterns were analyzed with the aim of selecting an optimum method to allow easy construction. The service life returned to normal quickly by the application of the improved lining design, and the campaign was held to minimum damage. Our analysis is based on experience making good use of measured thermomechanical refractory data, confirming operation data and developing structural models.
