As a streetlight capable of overnight lighting using only solar and wind energy, we developed "Solar-Wind-Light" which uses a photovoltaic generator as the main charging source and a wind generator as its secondary charging source. The wind generator can be activated at a low wind speed and is safeguarded against strong wind. The streetlight also contains a storage battery capable of supplying 5 days lighting without charging. Considering its use as a streetlight with a small stand-alone power source, we focused, during the design stage, not on the pursuit of power generation efficiency but on the balance of power supply and consumption as well as protection form disasters. We are sure that this system will be installed in increasingly more places as people recognize its advantages such as its resistance to disasters (operable even during large-scale power failures), energy-saving (using no fossil fuel), environment-friendliness (emitting no global warming gases or pollutants during its operation) and symbolic characteristic (allowing you to publicize the use of natural energy).
