Quantitative analysis of alertness level and performance estimation

Quantitative analysis of sensitivity such as the level of alertness or relaxation has become more important than the conventional method of such study by means of subjective evaluation. Ten healthy male subjects (21-27 years old) were asked to take part in the test to study the quantitative analysis to the alertness level using EEG, rectal temperature, RR interval and other indices during a sleep deprivation. The test session (AAT, performance test, balance test, subjective rating, etc.) was performed every hour for a total of 19 times. The AAC values showed that the level of alertness decreased in the early morning for every subject. Other physiological, psychological and performance data also showed similar trends. We designed a multiple regression model to estimate the performance level. The model explains logarithmically transformed value of tracking error by rectal temperature and standard deviation of ECG RR interval. This model is useful to estimate the performance of operators during night work.
