A process for designing molds for exterior siding is proposed along with an information system for managing design and manufacturing data, and high-rate machining technology for mold production. The flow path design employs the combination ofquantitative analysis (the rheological motion of cement, non-Newtonian flow analysis of material in a mold) with experimental data. A 3D stone texture data management system with the ability to convert texture data into mold machining instructions wasdeveloped. Fast, accurate machining technology was developed to transfer a texture to figured roller.
