MEW has developed a hole-cutter that speeds the preparation of wallboard for installing switches and electrical outlets. A typical house will have about 50 switches and electrical outlets. Installing these fixtures is a labor-intensive process,requiring time to locate the connection box, which is concealed behind the wall board, and another five to 10 minutes to cut hole in the wall board for the switch or outlet. The hole cutter reduces this time by a factor of ten. A sensor detects the boxthrough the wall board by locating a magnet placed on the box in advance, then a special tool is used to cut a suitably sized oval hole.
