Module Structured Production System for Demand-Oriented Production

A flexible, lean, and demand oriented-production system enabling efficient manufacture of high-variety and low-volume products is desired, In order to realize this need, production systems should enhance flexibility, scalability, and re-configurability, In this study, we propose a new production system called the "module structured production system (MSPS)." The MSPS consists of multiple production lines and a manufacturing execution system. The production lines comprise several production cells consisting of different function units. By changing the arrangement of production cells and function units for different processing products, the production line can be optimized quickly and efficiently. In this paper, the concept and structure of the MSPS are discussed.
