Today initial design concepts often begin their evolutionary sequence as a computer-generated layout By the time designers reach a point in this evolutionary process where they believe their CAD models are ready for an official drawing release, these mature designs end up being considerably more complicated than the first layouts. The final design concepts are then sent to the analyses groups for evaluation, and the iterative cycle of de sign, analysis, re-design, re-analysis begins. With COSMOS/DesignSTAR from Structural Research and Analysis Corp. (SRAC), designers can break these chains and perform their own preliminary checks on design concepts that will eventually become final design releases. COSMOS/DesignSTAR allows designers to shorten the number of iterations by conducting their own first-pass preliminary checks of either all sheet metal or all solid part designs before investing the enormous amount of time it takes to generate release-level detailed drawings.
