Trophic relations of species of the genus Trichogramma Westw. (Hymenoptera, Trichogrammatidae) of the world fauna.

Hosts of Trichogramma spp. belong to 5 insect orders, most of them in the Lepidoptera. The majority of the hosts belong to the four largest and most economically important superfamilies: Tortricoidea, Pyraloidea, Noctuoidea, and Papilionoidea. The adaptive spread of Trichogramma is broadest in the Noctuidae. Species of Trichogramma occurring within one biotope have similar ranges of hosts and differ in the degree of the exploration of the same food resource. Host specificity is accompanied by morphological and ethological adaptations. Results of the analysis may be used for selection of parasitoids for pest control.
