Genetic differences between an Arctic char group (Salvelinus alpinus L. and Salvelinus taranetzi Kaganovsky) and the Pacific Dolly Varden trout (Salvelinus malma Walbaum).

Fish of the 3 species were typed electrophoretically for 22 isozymes controlled by 45 loci. Gene frequency differences between the Dolly Varden trout and the Arctic char were found in respect of esterase, phosphoglucomutase, peptidase D and glucosephosphate isomerase, and these allowed the 2 groups to be differentiated on the basis of the enzyme polymorphisms.
