摘要

We present a theoretical view of the Power Cross Correlation (PPCC) method for direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation. A "estimator condition" is given and analyzed for the PPCC method, then restrictions on the patterns used for the estimation are deduced from the estimator condition. Computer simulations with directive beam patterns obtained from an Electronically Steerable Parasitic Array Radiator (ESPAR) antenna model, are conducted to illustrate the theory. First to inspect the PPCC method performances as regard the "estimator condition", and secondly to inspect the effect of additive Gaussian noise on the estimation error. For two patterns the theory, confirmed by some simulation results, show that the performances are lead by the slope sign between the patterns. Also, by increasing the number of patterns good estimations can be expected.
