This paper describes a piezoelectric-ceramic cylinder vibratory gyroscope with interdigital electrodes. More stable gyroscopes have been required as directional sensors for car navigation systems. The temperature dependence of zero offset is one of the most important characteristics. We have given an expression to the temperature dependence of zero offset by using an equivalent circuit applying vibratory unbalances. The temperature dependence of zero offset is derived by introducing the relationship between vibratory unbalances and temperature dependence of the Qm of the piezoelectric-ceramic materials. Measured results concerning two piezoelectric-ceramic materials, which are different in temperature characteristics of Qm, agree with the calculated results.By using this method, we could get a guideline to improve the temperature dependence of vibratory gyroscope's zero offset.
