In the present study, a continuum plasticity theory based on continuum damage mechanics (CDM) is proposed to make an approximated elasto-plastic stress analysis of multiply flawed structure. In the present model the yield function is assumed to be dependent on the hydrostatic stress in order to consider the stiffness reduction due to the existence and opening of flaws in tensile stress state. The evolution of damage parameter is assumed to be given by J integral. FE analysis of an plane stress problem is demonstrated with the present model.
