The effect of K2O and P2O5 addition on the acidsites of V2O5(WO3)/TiO2 catalyst and the relationship to theselective reduction of NO with NH3 were investigated by infraredspectroscopy, NH3 chemisorption, and NO reductionmeasurements. The catalytic activity decreased with both K2O andP2O5 loading. The effect of phosphorus was much smallercompared with that of K2O. The acidity of Br?onsted sitesdecreases largely upon K2O addition in parallel with the decreaseof SCR activity. Upon P2O5 addition, the Br?onsted acid siteswere newly formed. The results obtained imply that thedeactivation might be caused by a change in the nature of thehydroxyl groups acting as Br?onsted acid sites.
