PURIFICATION OF THE KAULA-KATSELVAARA MINE WATERS FROM HARMFUL IMPURITIES

The results of laboratory and bench testing of the Kaula-Katselvaara mine waters purification are presented. In addition to conventional processing equipment and sorbents, an improved method of froth separation is proposed. This method is based on a more effective airation of water suspension with fine air bubbles, which permit to remove larger part of harmful impurities into froth product as flocs, consisting of heavy metals salts and sulphate-chloride-ammonia compounds. A principally new processing flowsheets is proposed, providing for purification of mine waters and, therefore, their discharge into open bodies of water or recirculation into the process.
