Prototype of 3-Gb/s 60-GHz Millimeter-wave-based Wireless File-transfer System

摘要

For applying a 60-GHz wireless system to file transfer for a mobile, a problem is the low effective-data rate below 1 Gb/s when the 60-GHz wireless system is connected to a mobile. We show a prototype of a 60-GHz wireless file-transfer system with a world's fastest effective user-data rate over 3 Gb/s, including overheads of a physical layer and a retransmission control between two cache-memory devices, by using CMOS RF and baseband (BB) LSIs and new automatic direct memory-access control. The antenna in package, 60-GHz RF LSI, and analog BB (ADC/VGA/DAC) were developed by Tokyo Institute Technology. Digital BB, BB LSI, and system were developed by Sony Corporation.
