In resent years, Ultra WideBand Impulse Radio (UWB-IR) attracts attention as a new radio-communications system. UWB-IR is a system that transmits some very short pulse which is one or less nanosecond in length without carrier modulation, and it can telecommunicate and ranging at the same time. Therefore we paid attention to the application of UWB-IR for ITS inter-vehicle communication and ranging, and showed the effectiveness of UWB-IR by comparing to DS/SS whose bandwidth is equal to that of UWB-IR. On the other hand, when we use the same sequence for communication and ranging, there are a trade-off between the data rate and ranginable maximum distance. For solving this problem, it is considered that application of a concatenated sequence using an Equivalently Odd and Even (EOE) sequence. However, this sequence uses sinusoidal wave, unlike UWB-IR. In this paper, we propose a method of generating a concatenated sequence for UWB-IR by hopping not only each pulse but also pulse train, and show the effectiveness of proposal method by computer simulation.
