Sentence pattern description language for Japanese to English MT

摘要

Recently a new machine translation method based on equivalent analogy has been proposed. In order to realize this method, it is required to build "Semantically Typological Knowledgebase for Languages" which has the semantic relations between an original language and a target language. In this knowledge-base, one of the most important issues will be how to attain mutual independency and high cover rate for sentence patterns obtained from huge amount of bi-lingual corpus. This paper discusses the way to define the sentence patterns and proposes specifications for sentence pattern description language.
