摘要

Power gating technology has been widely used for leakage power reduction. A controlling value based power gating considering gate count and switching activity has been proposed. However, power saving capability suffers from the steady maximum depth constraint, which is necessary to avoid performance degradation. For increasing power savings, this paper proposes a power gating control extraction method based on controllability propagation and power-off probability. With the controllability propagation, control signals with smaller depths can be found. Experimental results show that 21.4% power reduction can be achieved in average, which is in average 8.5% improvement compared with the previous algorithm.
