PIRCS, super distributed web searching system

摘要

The ever-increasing spread of the World Wide Web brought about a huge demand for fast and efficient searching services. Current search engines that are based on centralized models however, are still not be able to meet up to all these requirements. By making use of the probabilities of the linked targets' existence during the searching process, the authors are able to improve upon the effectiveness of the returned query results. PIRCS is thus proposed as such an information-searching/retrieval system. PIRCS is required to be compatible with the current WWW system, and be able to add or modify its functions easily. Hence, the communication protocols are implemented over HTTP, which allows for such modifications to be carried out in an efficient method. The design blueprint for PIRCS and its implementation details are discussed in this paper. The results of actual WWW search requests are also included, showing the efficiency of the PIRCS system.
