Intermediate Stage Evaluation of Cornell-Geneva and Other Promising Rootstocks: Progress Report

A number of new apple rootstocks from around the world, including the new Cornell-Geneva series of rootstocks which are fire blight resistant, are rapidly becoming available and have the potential to replace existing rootstocks. We have gathered promising root-stocks and established a series of field trials to further evaluate their characteristics including fire blight tolerance, yield performance, graft union strength and cold hardiness. Data from these trials will give growers unbiased informationabout the fire blight tolerance and orchard potential of the Geneva, Supporter, Morioka, Budagovsky, Pilinitz and JTE stocks.
