Silicon, which is the most abundant mingeral inthe earth's crust, was not though to be of any physiological roles for higher animals and plants. But rom 1970 to 1980, many scientific monographs have been reported regarding the essentiality and functions of silicon. Silicon was found to be a constituent of extracellular matrix in connective tissue, especially certain glycosaminoglycans and polyuronides. Since, it has beendemonstrated that silicon plays an important role in the calcification adn mineralization of bone, in the growth and development of different organs and as the cross-linking agent of connective tissue. SILANOLS are active organic derivatives of silicon (developed by EXSYMOL). SILANOLS have been shown to have biological moisturization, cytostimulation, regeneration, antifreeradical, anti-glycation, anti-inflammatory and lypolysis. Recently, specific SILANOLS has been demonstrated to induce its activity by activating cell metabolism (releaseof intercellular mediator) without a direct contact.
