Alfred Hagemeyer is a currently Distinguished Scientist at Rennovia in Menlo Park, California. Alfred's areas of scientific interest include: industrial heterogeneous catalysis, in particular gas phase as well as liquid phase oxidations and hydrogenations; high throughput discovery of novel catalytic compositions; and scale up of lead compounds to bench and pilot scale. Alfred holds a MS. in Chemistry (1985) and a MS. in Physics (1987) from Dortmund University, Germany, and Ph.D. in Chemistry (1989) from the Max-Planck-Institute in Mainz, Germany. Alfred worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow (1990) in the Department of Inorganic & Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna, Italy, and joined the ammonia lab of BASF, Ludwigshafen, Germany, as a Research Scientist (1991 - 1996). Alfred then moved to Hoechst in Frankfurt, Germany, to work as a Senior Scientist in the Heterogeneous Catalysis Department of Corporate Research & Technology (1996-1998). He joined Symyx Technologies in Santa Clara, CA to work as a Distinguished Scientist (1998 - 2006) on high throughput catalyst discovery projects for the commodity chemicals industry. He then worked as a Group leader (2006 - 2011) in the Catalysis Laboratory at Sud-Chemie in Bruckmuhl, Germany, prior to joining Rennovia in 2011. Alfred has co-authored more than 50 scientific articles and conference contributions and currently holds more than 50 patents. He has edited a textbook on High Throughput Screening in Chemical Catalysis (Wiley-VCH, 2005) and has co-authored a book chapter in the Handbook of Green Chemistry: Green Catalysis (Wiley-VCH, 2009). He is on the editorial board of Combinatorial Chemistry & High Throughput Screening (Bentham Science) and the Roempp Chemical Dictionary (Thieme Verlag).
