Carrier trials: First steps towards Liaoning air wing

For many years, China's aircraft carrier programme and its development of carrier-capable fighters were among the most secretive elements of its military aviation. However, this changed dramatically with the acquisition via Ukraine of the former Varyag, and finally culminated in November 2012 with the first successful landing and take-off of two J-15s from the now re-named carrier Liaoning.
