摘要

Teak bearing forest ranges from India to Thailand and is one of the most important biomes in the monsoon tropics of Asia. The Myanmar Selection System applied to this forest type and set the harvestable girth limit to 76" (73 cm dbh) in mesic site andto 6'6" (63 cm dbh) in dry site and set the felling cycle to 30 years. The system was designed to allow the stock of smaller teak trees reached to harvestable size by the next felling cycle start. However, the decline of teak and other commercial wood stock in the natural forest was reported by many researchers and reconsideration of the system based on the ecological background is required. This study aims to clarify the various effect of logging on the natural teak bearing forests, including the effect to sapling bank to canopy trees.
