Water loss intensity in cut leaves of plants of Central Tuva and Priobskaya Forest-Steppe

The water loss intensity was studied in 15 plant species, including Stipa pennata, of the Central Tuva and Priobskaya forest-steppe in Russia during 1985-1997. The amount of evaporated water was expressed in percent of the initial water content andweight. Sharper distinctions between plants of different ecological groups were revealed by analysis of the water percentage decrease, especially when calculated for the fresh weight.
