ANATOMY OF CORTEX AND SECONDARY PHLOEM OF ROSACEAE. 7. ROSOIDEAE -- POTENTILLEAE

Cortex and phloem anatomy is described in aerial shoots, stolons, rhixomes, and perennial branches, in 8 of 13 genera (Potenlilla, Cliamaerliodos, Comurum, Pentaphylloldes, Drymocallis, Fragaria, Duchesnea, Sibbaldia) of Takhtajan's (1987) tribe Poienttlleae. The anatomy is rather uniform in all genera investigated, but phellogen- arises in the outer phloem in Pentaphylluides and in the pericycle in others. The hypoderrhis structure is a uniqueness of Potenlilla bifurca of subgenus SchisloplfyUidium.Pentaphylloides and, perhaps, Schistaphyllidlum should de considered as the separate genera, while other investigated members of the tribe might be easily congregated into a very diverse genus Poieritilla.
