摘要

Throughout the past decade much has been learned regarding the molecular pathogenesis of colorectal carcinoma. However, to improve patient outcome and to advance our understanding of the natural course of the disease, it remains crucial to further define prognostic markers which may, in addition, also serve as therapeutic targets. Tumor angiogenesis is critically involved in the development, progression, and metastatic spread of colorectal carcinoma , Antivascular and antiangiogenic treatment strategies have proven advantageous when compared to conventional cytotoxic regimens, and have shown promising effects in various pre-clinical and clinical settings .
