Review: Jordanian nurses' perceptions of their roles toward the families of hospitalised critically ill patients

This paper presents an exploratory study which uses the survey approach to examine Jordanian nurses' perceptions of their roles toward families of hospitalised critically ill patients. The relationship between nurses' role expectations and perceived role performance toward these families is then explored. The paper is written as a research report which is appropriate for this type of study. The findings apply to critical care nurses but there are parallels which resonate with all providers of healthcare to patients.
